September Card Sketch - MSW

Its Monday - day treating you well so far?  Hope so.  Its gorgeous here and I hope to make the most of it.

The 15th came and went - that means a new card sketch is up at My Sketch World.  I loved working with the sketch this week!  Here's what I made:

Quite the mix of papers here from Lily Bee, Crate Paper, and Simple Stories and am really loving the primary colors combo - I tend to shy away from it because it seems like it should be used for 'school' pages but I must remember to use it more frequently than that - banner pieces made from sticky back canvas coated with paint and texture paste to create the brick pattern - love my Crafter's Workshop brick stencil - cutie lil' ScrapfX birdie made its way on that card along with another Australian scrap product - The Chip Chop Shop doily - so glad I stocked up on these before the store took a hiatus time - the twine is from there as well - bits of sequins and splatters of paint to finish.

the sketch:

Be sure to check out what the rest of the card team created by heading here!

Have happy days!!

Skissedilla #176

Evening Friends!  Quick share tonight as I think my creativity decided to show back up for a minute and I don't wanna lose it, LOL!  If you're looking for a boost or just a fun sketch to give a go then this is the post for you!

Skissedilla #176 this week is spectacular!!!  I love that it forced me to use a photo out of my comfort zone size!  Check it:

Oh yes that is a photo taking up MOST of my page!! What? What??!  Love.  I haven't scrapped with this size photo in such a long time - paired with some Amy Tangerine Sketchbook collection, Gauche Alchemy punchinella from the Neon kit (totally killer!!), and stamped embellishments - this page was a snap!

Such a fun picture I had already blown up and it worked perfectly for this sketch:

I can see myself grabbing this sketch again to use for some of the many school photos I have of my kids.
Love when pages come together once the flow is going - I also love making my own little embellishments and these little lemons made with a We R Memory stamp make me so happy!!

The stamp is supposed to be a lime I believe but works just as well as a lemon - the whole ones look a little wonky - guess it suits my whimsical side a bit.  Had to be sure and use some of my fav ScrapFx letters too!!  Itty Bitty bets rock!!

Lots of journaling on the photo - wishin' my white pens were working better - every one I grabbed was streaky - that doesn't usually happen but thats okay.

I need to let go of fear and write on my photos more often - I think it looks so cool (streaky ink and all - ugh!) and is a great way to fit journaling when the page is filled with other goodies.
I'll be back tomorrow with another sketch for you to use - this time from My Sketch World.  In the meantime have a great night/morning and take care! :D

Skissedilla #175

Hey Friends!  Its a chilly start to Tuesday around here and quite windy - all is quiet on the home front though so can't complain at all.  Looking forward to handling some business for the kennel this morning and then having a scrappy afternoon - what are you up to today??

If you're looking for inspiration or a sketch to get you kick started head on over to Skissedilla where the new weekly sketch is posted.

Lots of bits-n-pieces here layered over a stenciled pattern made with colored gesso - I'm really diggin' the new Funky Chevron stencil from The Crafter's Workshop!!  Have you gotten any of the new CHA releases from them?
I struggled a ton creating this page - its like the mojo went flying entirely out the window right along with all my energy!!  In fact this was the fourth attempt - I mean really??!  What are your wonderful tips and tricks when the creative juices fly right out the coop?  I tried all my tricks and nuttin' was working. :o/

This part of the title was actually connected to the words 'at' and 'the' from the photo above - I cut them apart, doodled, blinged, and adhered - love how easy ScrapFX makes titlework!!!
My inspiration to get going (for the fourth time) came from a delightfully sweet package I received from a friend for winning a BINGO game at MSW during the Olympics - Joan was beyond generous with the goodies she sent and I can't wait to use more of them - what I couldn't believe is she included an older line of Crate Paper I'd always wanted but never got - I was beyond giddy at the sight of the fun bold patterns!  Thanks again Joan!!

Another pile of stuff here to look st LOL - I used an envelope from my goodie package to hold some ScrapFX tags layered up and held together with a brad - my journaling is there along with the deets of where we were etc. - the fussy cut flowers each have glitter around the inner ring - in this shot you can faintly see the shimmer - hate that its so hard to get stuff like that to show up in photos.
I was also inspired by my fellow DT member at ScrapFX, Kristine, to create my own leaf stamp - mine is in no way as cool as hers looks (check out her blog to see it in action) but I do like it. =)

Not sure I'm sold on this page as a whole - there are plenty of elements I like - just not sure everything together makes me entirely happy.  I can't pinpoint what it is either - I'm thinking maybe its too much yellow??  A lack of doodling around the photo mats, maybe shouldn't have gone with yellow photo mats?? Doh! LOL

I actually stayed pretty true to the sketch this week - I really liked the way the four photos were stacked and placed for this - definitely going to try that look again!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I appreciate you taking the time to visit - take care!!

Lets Play Ball with ScrapFX

Hey There!  Happy Monday to you!!

Its not often I create mini albums but I really wanted to create something for my daughter to remember this past year of softball with her team.
I've been wanting to try out different binding techniques for quite some time - I think I've finally found my niche for minis along with some other stashed away ideas for another day.  The lesson I learned big time was don't be so anxious to bind the book that you do it before filling the actual book, LOL
I really enjoy watching my baby girl play softball - it consumes our lives and there are times I'll admit all the driving and weekends ate up can get to me - but for the most part I love watching her and her team play.  This mini documents the last season her team will play together as is - lots of girls moving to the next age level while some stay to welcome those coming up.

This page features some hand carved stamps I made using ScrapFX stencils as templates for them - The brilliant Kristine and Michelle L. (fellow DT members) kick started this fun and it was a struggle to stop myself.  The cloud and bit of chevron are from the stamps I carved.
I used mostly Echo Park's Sweet Day collection and ScrapFX products to make this - limiting myself to supplies really helped this book come together quickly - I should try this more often ;)

Alright from here I'll just share some pictures since I have more than I usually post :)

We traveled a lot for this year's league and tournaments - in fact being a fairly new organization to all this we never played at home!!!  It wasn't always fun - read we had no air conditioning on some insanely hot days and were crabby beyond belief! It was fun however to use some cool travel themed ScrapFX chippies and tags!  The bird is from my favorite set: Bird Family

I had a bit of fun with some pouring medium to decorate the ScrapFX wordlet on the right page - some stickpins and cutie little Funky Flower Button from ScrapFX.  Oh and I went all hybrid on this project too!!!  YAY me - boo me for not gathering proper links for credit and such - I will go back for this.

My kids got in on the stamp carving action with me and the word softball was carved by my DD!!!  Isn't it terrific - I'm not proud or nuttin' huh?! (big cheesy grins) - more hybrid fun and a sweetheart tree from ScrapFX  decked out in paint and jewels.

Sigh...I need to order another camera pack so I can get another one of these cutie Polaroid cameras to use!!!  I seriously think they should be sold by the bags full, LOL - a retro flower, some of my fav Itty Bitty Bets letters, and scraps of other pieces here as well.

Another cutie Bird Family bird here - this time done up with some tissue paper and of course a big googly eye!!!  Had fun turning retro flower in to a little sun as well - you all know I love my sunshines and clouds!! ;)
And here we are at the end - used the first half of a Softball wordlet here - kind of a fun way to change things up you know??!  When the book is set open just so it reads softball anyhoo, ;)
Phew - lots of pictures but I'm so terribly behind in sharing so much I had to just let it all hang out in this one, LOL!!  Thanks so very much if you made it this far. :)

Take care sweet peeps!!

Skissedilla #174

Happy Labor Day to all those celebrating today!  Do you have plans to get your grill on??  We'll be doing that a little later on today - YAY - no cooking for me!!!  I think we may also go to play some Frisbee golf but it sure is rootin' tootin' hot outside so we'll see!

If you're looking for something scrappy to do then I would say you should head on over to Skissedilla where there is a brand new sketch and Selected Scrapper posted!!!!  I was beyond thrilled to have my first turn at choosing the special person to scrap with us this month and I just know you all will love her!!!!  Let me know what you think after you check out the post, K?

I've used some lovely new Glitz papers - along with a new Crafter's Workshop stencil, and of course I used my favorite ScrapFX clouds stencil as well along with lots of ScrapFX chippies - I'd been pondering for a long time what to do with that oversized gear - turning it in to a sun suited me better!!
For my take I decided to mirror the sketch and instead of the circle element being in the lower right hand corner it flipped up to the top left.  I was inspired by the circle element and the word strips for the title.

I've been wanting to do something with a pie chart type shape for a long time but wasn't entirely sure how to make it my own - filling the gear sun with a mix of papers was a great way to start experimenting - I wish you could see the texture of the cloud better - some scrap lace embedded in gesso give it a great bumpy look and feel

Its my turn this week to host the Skissedilla blog so I would love for you to stop on by and say hello - plus if you play along you'll have the chance to win this:

(12) 6x6 Prima Doodle papers, (1) My Mind's Eye stamp set, (6) Maya Road chipboard banner pieces, (5) Maya Road gem beads, (5) buttons, (3) Maya Road stickpins, and (1) roll October Afternoon washi
Good stuff right??  Wait until you see what the Selected Scrapper has up for grabs!!!  You're not going to wanna miss it - and to be sure you don't, how about a lil' giveaway here too??  Yes, I think that would be good - I'll be back with some deets on that!

Until the take care and make some terrific memories today!

Kicking Off September with ScrapFX

What's happening friends?!!  Are you enjoying this last stretch of summer before the September routines kick in?  I have been so I do hope you forgive me for letting a tad bit of dust collect here.

Such a rare treat to get a shot together without an outstretched arm, LOL!!!
This guy and I celebrated an anniversary - what a lucky girl I am to be married to a gentle, kind, supportive man that makes me laugh, loves to hold my hand everywhere we go, and thinks I'm the greatest - wow.

Ahh, you're never too big to play in a really great box on delivery day of kennel supplies/food!!!
This guy will be 16 in a matter of days and a junior in high school!!  How on Earth did that happen??

Quite the character this one is - very spunky and passionate in all she does and is looking forward to Honors Science (shh - so is mama - we're both nerdy girls you know!!)
This cheeky monkey has started the process to get braces on and couldn't be more excited!!!  Thank you Grandpa and Auntie for helping make this wish come true!!

And this is how the ScrapFX blog is kicking off September!!!  I made a mini album on the go while taking care of some business and if you head on over to the blog you can see all the full pages.  I'd love for you to pop over there and let me know what you think!!

In the meantime I shall be back again tomorrow with a brand new sketch reveal for Skissedilla and a super fantabulous Selected Scrapper for September!!!!  I can hardly wait to share with you all who I get to introduce - I know you'll love her.  For now mum and good night's the word.
